Wind Report Description: Thunderstorm winds blew down a ticket booth, damaged several rides, and hurled debris at a carnival in Glen Burnie. Two men and one woman were injured. The most serious injury was suffered by a 62 year-old man who was struck by the falling ticket booth. Minor injuries were sustained by a 19 year-old man and a 31 year-old woman. The man was injured by flying debris while on a thrill ride; the woman was inside the ticket booth when it fell. At around the same time (1934EST), winds gusted to 50 mph (44 knots) at Baltimore/Washington International Airport.

Lancaster County · 120,566 Homes in County

Wind Report Description: A squall line of severe thunderstorms caused an estimated $1 million damage in Lancaster County from Mount Joy and West Donegal in the northwest corner east-southeast through Lancaster City. The hardest hit areas were Marietta, Maytown (Both within East Donegal Township.) and Silver Spring (West Hempfield Township). In Maytown, planes were flipped over at the airport. In Marietta several trees fell on cars. In the Silver Spring area, aluminum siding was wrenched from 80 homes. Several trees slammed into homes. A porch was blown apart and a house under construction was badly damaged. The roof of the QVC warehouse was almost completely torn away. Several warehouse buildings owned by the Charles Chip Company were severely damaged. The straight line winds were so strong they rolled a 20 foot metal corn crib at the warehouse for half a mile. Other damage in the county included several roofs blown off barns in Mount Joy, West and East Donegal Townships. Planes were also blown over at the Donegal Spring Airport in Mount Joy. Siding and shingles were stripped from a few houses. In Elizabethtown an uprooted tree landed on a house and caused about $40 thousand in damage. In East Donegal Township a trailer rolled over twice and was destroyed. The roof of a chicken barn blew away and 20,000 chickens subsequently died. In East Hempfield Township the winds leveled nearly five acres of woods. Around the city of Lancaster wind related damage also occurred. A gust to 85 mph blew over the satellite antenna of WGAL-TV. A building collapsed at 84 Lumber in Centerville. Numerous trees were uprooted. One fell into a house on St. Mary Street, a few fell on cars. Roofs of a printing center and an elementary school partially blew away. Trees and power lines were also knocked down in Millersville. During the height of the storm 26,000 Pennsylvania Power and Light customers lost power as three 69,000 volt transmission wires were knocked down. No injuries were reported.
