The most serious was about 2 miles northwest of Dexter, where the trees fell in a pattern that suggested a funnel. The EMA director and 2 sheriff's deputies reported seeing funnel clouds, displayed by nearly continuous lightning. No evidence of a tornado was found when a NWS employee surveyed the area. The windows were blown out of a church on New Bethel Road near Dudley.

Wind Report Description: Sight survey by a NWS employee showed the damage path continued out of Houston county into Pulaski county. Over 150 pecan trees in 2 separate orchards were blown down. Very large oak and pine trees were also knocked down. An unoccupied mobile home was flipped and landed 30 to 40 feet away. It was upright and intact, but destroyed. The EMA director indicated a total of 17 homes were damaged or destroyed. Most of the damage came from falling trees. Power outages also resulted when trees fell on power lines.

Wind Report Description: Sight survey by a NWS employee indicated a downburst from a severe thunderstorm destroyed a mobile home on County Line Road 12 miles south-southeast of Perry. About 20 large mature oak, cedar and pine trees were blown down. A very old graveyard was damaged by uprooting of huge oak trees. A number of residents reported damage to vehicles and structures, fallen power lines and obstructions on roadways. Sound descriptions indicated the possibility of a funnel but there was no evidence of a tornado.

Tornado Report Description: A tornado touched down just east of the Opp country club, then moved southeast crossing U S Highway 84 just south of downtown before lifting back into the cloud just west of U S Highway 331. The tornado damaged the Opp mill and tore off part of the roof from the South Highlands Elementary school. The tornado damaged more than ninety homes and several businesses. No injuries were reported.
