Wind Report Description: Isolated wind damage was noted in western McLennan County, including Crawford, Valley Mills, McGregor, and western Waco. Widespread wind damage occurred across southern McLennan County near Woodway, McGregor, Speegleville, Hewitt, Robinson, Bruceville-Eddy, and south Waco. The damage extended along and south of the Highway 6 corridor. A large sycamore tree was uprooted in McGregor and fell onto a parked car. Three tractor trailers were blown over on Interstate 35 near mile marker 329...about 7 miles south-southwest of Waco. Thousands of trees, power lines, and signs were blown down across the county. Power was knocked out throughout Waco. Winds of 50-80 MPH damaged roofs and blew one roof onto a police patrol car. Roof damage was reported at the Ace Hardware on Hewitt Drive, two miles north of Hewitt; at the Masterfoods/M&M Mars building on Texas Central Parkway, two miles north-northeast of Hewitt; and at the Colorite Corporation on Jewitt Lane, two miles northwest of the community of Elm Mott. A 2,400 square foot house was lifted from its concrete foundation and deposited several yards away. The builder estimated damages at $100,000. A damage survey conducted by the National Weather Service in Fort Worth determined that a downburst was responsible for the damage. Due to the extent of the damage, a countywide disaster declaration was issued by the McLennan County judge.

Wind Report Description: A wet microburst produced destructive winds that spread south through a small mobile home community at Lake Alan Henry near the intersection of Farm to Market Roads 2458 and 3519. One resident of the community was injured during the storm. A National Weather Service damage survey team estimated that winds associated with the microburst exceeded 90 MPH. One mobile home was blown toward the south and impacted two vehicles that were parked in front of an adjacent home. Debris, including the steel-frame structure of the mobile home, pushed the two vehicles up to 40 feet while the remains of the home were blown more than 40 yards into an open field. One vehicle was crushed by the weight of the flying debris. Another vehicle, a large truck, was reported by one of the residents to have been lifted in the front-end and then pushed across the yard. The tracks on the ground from the rear tires were noted by the survey team. Another mobile home was completely removed from its foundation and blown approximately 40 yards to the southeast into an open field. Lighter debris was scattered over 100 yards toward the south.Four other vehicles in the mobile home community also were damaged from flying debris. The front-end of a large truck was struck by a dumpster. A small sports utility Vehicle was impaled through a passenger side window by a ladder. Two other mobile homes sustained roof and window damages. An object impaled the top of one home, and residents reported major damage to the home's interior. The Texas Tech West Texas Mesonet station located one mile northwest of Lake Alan Henry measured a wind gust of 79 mph from the west/northwest at 7:40 PM.

Tornado Report Description: A tornado was reported on Waco Drive by the media, just north of the damage swath produced by the downburst. A damage survey conducted by the National Weather Service in Fort Worth found that a tornado formed south of New Road and just west of Spur 298 (Franklin Avenue), or just north of Richland Mall. The tornado reached its peak intensity of lower F2 and did the most damage just east of Spur 298. Several commercial buildings had large sections of their roofs and walls damaged. A Coca-Cola Bottling Plant lost much of its roof and most of its inventory was damaged. A spokesman for the company stated that the tornado did well over $1 million worth of damage. An owner of an auto repair shop which was badly damaged estimated damages at $600,000. A horse barn owned by Baylor University was leveled and two horses killed. Numerous trees were downed and power lines snapped in and east of this area. The circulation weakened as it approached Interstate 35, and the tornado dissipated approximately three-fourths of a mile east of Interstate 35. A countywide disaster declaration was issued by the McLennan County judge.

Tornado Report Description: A tornado developed in Martin County in open fields north of County Road D4800 and east of County Road D2651. Based on spotter reports, the tornado was visible at 8:02 pm CDT just south of CR D4800 and west of Farm to Market Road 829 (FM 829), south-southeast of Patricia. According to spotter reports, it took on a stove-pipe like shape and continued to move to the east-southeast along FM 829. A few minutes later, the tornado pulled an oil pump jack and well head from the ground. The pump jack was estimated to weigh about 35,000 pounds by an oil company representative. The well head was anchored in the ground by an additional 35,000 pounds of weight from pipe below the ground. Southward along FM 829, four power poles were snapped four to five feet above ground and an additional six poles farther south were blown over to the east due to rear flank downdraft winds. Another couple of minutes later, an oil heater treater weighing approximately 12,000 pounds was blown over. The damage survey team classified the damage that occurred between 8:02pm CDT and 8:07pm CDT, when the oil heater treater was blown over, as F2 intensity damage. After blowing over the oil heater, the tornado became rain-wrapped and crossed County Road 4600, just west of County Road D3401. Five power poles were knocked down on County Road D3401. Based on information received from both spotters and chasers, the tornado dissipated at 8:14pm CDT, just west of Texas Highway 137. During the remainder of the tornado's path, it remained mainly over open country. The damage survey team calculated the width of the tornado to be 130 yards near the end of its life. However, the track was estimated to be between 200 and 300 yards during earlier stages of its life. The path length was calculated to be just over six miles long.

Tornado Report Description: During the late afternoon of Friday, May 5, thunderstorms developed over Lea County, New Mexico and moved northeast into portions of Gaines County. Around 5:21 pm, a thunderstorm intensified just southwest of the community of Higginbotham and began to exhibit supercellular characteristics as the storm began to move eastward then east southeastward at around 20 mph.As the cyclic supercell thunderstorm moved east southeast, it continued to intensify, producing golf ball to baseball hail in the northern and eastern portions of the city of Seminole. A weak and brief tornado was photographed between 7:25 and 7:27 pm over rural areas of southeast Gaines County. Due to the limited road network in southeast Gaines County, the damage survey failed to reveal any damage in southeast Gaines County.

This tornado remained on the ground for at least seven minutes, and tracked across open farmland. Two center-pivot irrigation units were destroyed, however, resulting in $500,000 in property damage.
