Wind Report Description: A microburst with estimated maximum wind speeds of 85 to 90 mph occurred in portions of unincorporated Gary. The damage path had a width of approximately a third of a mile and was confined to areas between 41st Avenue and 45th Avenue near Cleveland Street. Severe damage to a strip mall occurred with windows shattered and the cinder block walls completely collapsing on the south end of the building. A nearby tent was blown into power lines. Numerous trees in the area were snapped or uprooted, with some subsequently falling onto homes and cars causing damage.
