While the line was still developing, a broken segment north of Bootleg (Deaf Smith County) decayed and produced a localized downburst. The KVII Schoolnet site at Walcott School 7 miles north of Bootleg (Deaf Smith County) measured the speed of the downburst at 60 mph. After producing this downburst the line of thunderstorms filled in the decayed portion of the line and moved eastward across the county.
