A VERY BRIEF EF-1 TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF SEMINARY AVENUE AND SCOTT STREET BEFORE MOVING NORTHEAST WHERE IT KNOCKED A ROUGHLY 50 FOOT STEEPLE AROUND TO THE NORTH SIDE OF THE COLLEGE CHURCH IN WHEATON. THE TORNADO THEN PRODUCED MINOR TREE DAMAGE BEFORE LIFTING NEAR COLLEGE AVENUE AND HOWARD STREET.

Tornado Report Description: AN EF-1 TORNADO WITH PEAK WINDS OF 105 MPH... PATH LENGTH OF 14.5 MILES... AND MAX WIDTH OF 250 YARDS STARTED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF YORKVILLE DESTROYING A PERGOLA... TAKING SIDING OFF A HOUSE... AND THROWING A TREE ACROSS A ROAD. THE TORNADO THEN CONTINUED SOUTHEAST AND DAMAGED SEVERAL FARMSTEADS INCLUDING THROWING A SHED SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET INTO A FIELD AND SCOURING GRASS. SEVERAL POWER POLES WERE SNAPPED AT THEIR BASE... AS WELL. THE TORNADO CROSSED INTO WILL COUNTY SOUTH OF PLAINFIELD AND CONTINUED DAMAGING TREES UNTIL ENDING JUST WEST OF I-55 NEAR CANTON FARM ROAD. A BROAD AREA OF WIND GUSTS OF 70 TO 80 MPH THEN FOLLOWED INTO CREST HILL LEADING TO PROLIFIC TREE DAMAGE.
