The tornado caused tree damage and minor structural damage to apartments... businesses and homes as it moved east into downtown Cape Girardeau. The tornado then crossed the Mississippi River and snapped power poles north of East Cape Girardeau.

Tornado Report Description: A survey of damage revealed a tornado touched down southeast of Rutland on SR-10 and tracked quickly northeast. The tornado moved over numerous empty fields but also impacted several wooded areas as well as snapped or uprooted trees on private property. The tornado entered Bourbon and reached peak intensity on the northeast side of town in the area of Crocus Ct and Rose Lane where several homes suffered extensive roof damage. Debris was thrown into the field. Many homes showed garage doors being compromised... lowering potentially higher wind speeds. The tornado continued out of town... producing sporadic tree and power pole damage until reaching north of Etna Green in Kosciusko county where the damage ended. A preliminary rating of the tornado has been assigned EF-1 with estimated peak winds around 105 mph. The path length was 17.9 miles.

The tornado then tracked over open farmland for several miles before crossing Highway 160 just west of Gin City... where 7 wooden power poles were snapped. The tornado continued northeast crossing Highway 360 where it snapped 3 more wooden power poles and 2 trees before lifting. The tornado path length was 7.81 miles with a path width of 250 yards.

Tornado Report Description: An EF-1 tornado touched down near the Arkansas border in far southern Butler county and then tracked northeast passing a few miles southeast of Qulin. It then crossed over the St Francis River and moved into far northwest Dunklin County for a brief time before lifting. Over a dozen homes received some sort of shingle or siding damage. Over a dozen power poles were damaged including several that were snapped. Several grain bins were destroyed and many outbuildings were damaged or destroyed as well.
