Tornado Report Description: A strong EF-1 tornado with estimated maximum winds near 105 mph touched down in the Sabine National Forest along Forest Road 144... and tracked northeast across the forest and Highway 87 just south of the Six Mile community. The tornado was strongest near the intersection of Forest Road 144 and Forest Road 144A... where numerous softwood trees were snapped and uprooted. Additional trees were snapped and uprooted as it crossed Highway 87 between Forest Road 182 and Shawnee Shores Drive... before eventually lifting in a cove of Toledo Bend Reservoir near Shawnee Shores Drive. The estimated path length was 5.71 miles... with a path width of 625 yards.

THE TORNADO CONTINUED EAST NORTHEAST WHERE IT CAUSED DAMAGE TO OUTBUILDINGS AT A RESIDENCE WITH ONE DESTROYED. TREE DAMAGE CONTINUED DOWNSTREAM... BUT ROAD ACCESS PREVENTED ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS. THIS STORM WAS ON THE GROUND FOR 0.96 MILES FOR A DURATION OF ABOUT 1 MINUTE AND A MAXIMUM PATH WIDTH OF 100 YARDS. OUR THANKS TO SABINE PARISH EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND NWS LAKE CHARLES.

Tornado Report Description: A tornado touched down in an open field near the Yellowpine Community. It travelled northeast destroying a large hay barn. Several trees and power lines were also snapped off. Tin roofing material was noted in the trees roughly 100 feet north of the barn across the road. Debris also damaged a trailer home on the east side of SR. 87 and the skirting was blown off.
