A trained storm spotter reported shingles blown off the roof and portions of a wooden fence blown down one mile south-southeast of Follett (Lipscomb). This thunderstorm would continue a southeastern track across the county.

THE TORNADO WAS RATED AN EF-2 DUE TO FENCE... TREE... AND POWERLINE DAMAGE. THE TORNADO WAS ON THE GROUND FOR AT LEAST 10 MILES AND HAD A WIDTH OF 1400 YARDS.

Tornado Report Description: A slow moving supercell thunderstorm moved southward across the eastern Texas Panhandle during the evening hours of the 22nd. This supercell produced multiple brief tornadoes over the course of several hours. This tornado developed over central Lipscomb County and was observed by trained storm spotters. The winds were estimated at 65 mph. After producing this tornado, the parent supercell continued moving southward across the eastern Texas Panhandle.

Tornado Report Description: An official National Weather Service storm survey determined that the tornado briefly touched down near the intersection of County Road 19 and County Road D approximately five and a half miles west northwest of Follett Texas in Lipscomb County around 1850 CST. The tornado was on the ground for three hundred yards with a maximum path width of fifty yards. The tornado dissipated around 1852 CST. There was one outbuilding which was destroyed and the maximum wind speeds were around seventy knots. There were no injuries or fatalities reported.

Tornado Report Description: The tornado developed over open country about eight miles south of Darrouzett and traveled northeast and then north for about eight miles. The tornado crossed Uncle Sam Road just west of State Highway 305 and then near the intersection of County Road J and U.S. Highway 305. Severe damage was reported to recently built barns of which the contents were vacated and relocated downstream...damage to many power poles...trees...outbuildings...and a four thousand pound combine...which was lifted over a fence. No injuries were reported. The tornado dissipated at 2226 CST about four miles southeast of Darrouzett just south of where County Road 17 ends...or just southeast of the intersection of State Highway 305 and State Highway 15.

The tornado exited LIpscomb County of Amarillo's County Warning Area and continued moving northeast into Ellis County of Norman's County Warning Area.
