One larger circulation with numerous power flashes... with a smaller 2nd circulation off to the southwest. Based on the unusual damage path that the NWS damage assessment uncovered... this aligns with the idea that a small... short-lived circulation formed on the southern periphery of the large wedge tornado... producing brief EF-0 damage before dissipating.

Tornado Report Description: Based on radar... an NWS Survey and reports from numerous spotter and emergency management officials... one final tornado has been confirmed with a cyclic supercell that originated in eastern Illinois. The tornado quickly developed about 3 miles northeast of the end of the Wheatfield... IN tornado... starting southwest of the intersection of US 421 and CR W 400 S where 2 large pole barns suffered extensive damage... as well as 3 empty grain bins. The debris was carried up to a half mile downstream. Videos and eyewitness reports indicate a large cone shaped funnel continued northeast causing damage to trees... some center pivot irrigation systems and a few other barns and homes... eventually crossing State Road 39 near CR W 150 S. It then continued over mainly over unplanted fields before causing some additional damage at SR 8 and CR N 250 E. It lifted just southeast of the Starke county airport. The tornado has a few areas which suggested some multi vortex funnels caused damage in the larger swat

Tornado Report Description: A NWS storm survey confirmed an EF-1 tornado embedded within in sporadic wind damage. The tornado touched down in the vicinity of the 6350 block of County Road 400 South and continued east-northeast to the 6250 block of County Road 400 South where four to five dozen trees were either uprooted or snapped. There were no trees left standing in the front yard of this residence. The tornado dissipated shortly after as it turned towards the northwest and continued into the field to the north. The extensive damage in this isolated area was likely associated with the slow forward motion of this tornado as well as wet sandy soil in the area. The tornado was on the ground for around two tenths of a mile with a maximum width of 100 yards and maximum estimated wind speeds of around 95 mph.

Tornado Report Description: A NWS survey of damage confirmed a strong EF1 tornado traveled across mainly wooded areas of far northeastern Starke county. Touchdown occurred along County Road 800 east of County Road 850 East where several trees suffered limb damage. The tornado continued towards the northeast and slowly gained strength and reached peak intensity as it approached and crossed into Marshall county north of Koontz Lake. A quarter mile swath of healthy 18 to 24 inch diameter trees were snapped and uprooted (DI: TH DOD: 4). Maximum winds were estimated at around 110 mph. The total distance the tornado was on the ground across Starke and Marshall counties was 4.9 miles.
