Wind Report Description: Numerous severe thunderstorms swept across north, central and west Lousiana during the morning bringing widespread reports of wind gusts of 55 to 65 mph which downed trees and subsequently knocked down power lines in many areas. A wind gusts of 78 mph was recorded by an amatuer radio operator and storm spotter in Bossier Parish. A utility company in northwest Louisiana reported 6,300 homes without power for nearly 12 hours due to downed power lines. In rural areas across north Lousiana, roadways were blocked by fallen trees. Significant wind damage also was noted to mobile homes and buildings. Mobile homes were damaged by winds or fallen trees near, Blanchard, Benton, Sibly, Cotton Valley, Hodge, and Quitman. In Benton, a convenience store, and a car wash were also heavily damaged by thunderstorm winds. Thunderstorm wind gusts even tipped over an empty railroad boxcar near Mansfield. In and near the towns of Hall Summit, Quitman, and Weston, significant damage to homes was reported from thunderstorm wind gusts and fallen trees. Barns or farm buildings were damaged or destroyed near Haynesville, Jamestown, Liberty, Luna, Chickasaw.

Tornado Report Description: The tornado began over northeast Cottonport near the intersection of Lana St and Zion St where homes sustained substantial roof and carport damage while multiple tree branches were scattered about twisted sheet metal. Path continues along a NE motion over rural lands while cross Couvillion St. Further tree damage and debris was found in nearby farmland along the tornado path. Later the path crossed MP Cutoff Rd near Mill Bayou with damage of large tree trunks seen nearby. Southeast of Hamburg the tornado uprooted more trees up south of Coco Lake. Hereafter... the tornado took a ENE motion starting along HWY 451 crossing Sutton Lake. After a 15 mile track the tornado ended near a Cemetery along HWY 451 and Big Bend Rd where further tree damage and the collapse of an old home was found.

Tornado Report Description: A northeast-southwest line of numerous thunderstorms moving southeast at 20 mph produced some straight line wind damage in Oakdale and a tornado in Avoyelles parish between 0230-0330 CST. In Oakdale, thunderstorm winds blew down a large sign, several trees and power lines, and tore off the roofs from a garage and a carport around 0230 CST. A tornado began in Bunknownie around 0315 CST. The tornado moved on an east-northeast path to Cottonport where three people were injured when the tornado destroyed their mobile home. Two of these casualities were hospitalized according to Louisiana Office of Health and Hospitals survey. The tornado then turned northeast going through the towns of Long Bridge, Moreauville, and Bordelonville before ending about 0330 CST. An American Red Cross damage survey found 60 homes and farm buildings were were damaged. Two single family homes and three mobile homes were destroyed. Thirteen single family homes and two mobile homes suffered major damage. Thirty-one single family homes and four mobile homes suffered minor damage. Most of the damage was in the Bunknownie area according to newspaper accounts. In addition, several businesses including an electrical cooperative and a wharehouse lost their roofs. In Moreauville, a furniture business and a lumber yard were damaged.
