Tornado Report Description: This brief... but strong... EF-2 tornado began just south of County Road 540 where it did minor tree damage with a mix of hardwood and softwood trees snapped. As it tracked north... it quickly intensified as it snapped and uprooted hardwood and softwood trees in a concentrated corridor. Along County Road 540... it encountered several single family residences that sustained significant roof damage. The first such residence was a well built brick home. The windows were blown out and the roof on the back of the home was removed with damage to some of the beams. An RV was thrown through a metal outbuilding... which the owner stated the framing was carried away about a mile up the road. A car was shifted in the driveway. Significant tree damage also occurred... with numerous pines snapped low to the ground around the home. Further up the road... a second well built home sustained roof damage as well. An RV was thrown there into the porch... which caused it to collapse. Concentrated tree damage continued

Tornado Report Description: A brief tornado touched down near highway 540 in western Smith County. A couple of trees were downed along the highway as the tornado moved east... dissipating prior to reaching Raleigh. One home suffered generally minor damage due to a fallen Pine tree. Maximum winds were estimated at 75 mph and the tornado track was 3.7 miles.

Tornado Report Description: This tornado touched down in the Center Ridge community along county road 87 and tracked northeast for nearly 3 miles. Most of the damage was in the form of damaged trees and large limbs with a few uprooted trees. Along county road 82... a large section of a chicken house was taken out along with some damage to a few other buildings. A barn was damaged and a mobile home had siding damage and the porch was blown off. Just before the tornado dissipated... two mobile homes had skirting damaged. The tornado lifted just before county road 93. Max winds were 90 mph and width was 200 yds.

Tornado Report Description: This brief EF0 tornado touched down along Highway 18 just west of Raleigh and dissipated at Highway 35 a few miles north of Raleigh. Broken limbs and a couple downed trees were noted. Much of this path is inaccessible... but further information may be found and will update accordingly. Radar indicated a tornadic debris signature as well. Estimated max wind speed 80 mph. Path length 2.6 miles. Max path width 100 yards.

This was a brief weak tornado. Radar also showed a brief tornadic debris signature. Tornado rated EF0 with estimated max wind speed of 80 mph. Path length 1/2 mile. Max path width 100 yards.

Tornado Report Description: THE TORNADO STARTING POINT WAS CONFIRMED BY DRONE FOOTAGE JUST WEST OF BIENVILLE NATIONAL FOREST RD 527. IT MOVED NORTHEAST... SNAPPING AND UPROOTING MULTIPLE TREES IN A CONVERGENT PATTERN AS IT CROSSED THIS ROAD. TREE DAMAGE RAMPED UP CONSIDERABLY JUST EAST OF THIS LOCATION WITH MORE CONSIDERABLE TREE FALL AS THE TORNADO CROSSED BIENVILLE NATIONAL FOREST RD 527-D... INCLUDING A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF SNAPPED SOFTWOOD TREES AND A FEW SNAPPED HARDWOODS. IN A PREVIOUSLY-CLEARED FOREST AREA TO THE NORTH OF THIS ROAD... NEARLY ALL OF THE DEAD TREES THAT HAD REMAINED STANDING WERE SNAPPED WITHIN AND ALONG THE TORNADO PATH. THE ROAD WAS BLOCKED BY NUMEROUS DOWNED TREES. FOOTAGE FROM A DRONE SHOWED A WELL-DEFINED VORTEX PATTERN IN THE FALLEN TREES IN THIS VICINITY. THE TORNADO WEAKENED AS IT CROSSED MS HIGHWAY 35 NORTH OF SHONGELO LAKE AND SMITH CR 120... WHERE JUST A FEW TREES WERE UPROOTED. IT UPROOTED A FEW MORE TREES ALONG GOVERNMENT ROAD... INCLUDING ONE THAT BLOCKED THE ROADWAY... BEFORE LIFTING.

THERE IS LIKELY MORE DOWNED TREES WEST OF HIGHWAY 35. A DRONE FLIGHT IS PLANNED OVER THE COMING DAYS TO INVESTIGATE. FROM THAT DATA... A FINAL RATING WILL BE DETERMINED.

Tornado Report Description: A EF-0 TORNADO SPUN UP IN A FIELD JUST WEST OF HIGHWAY 37 AND TRAVELED NORTHEAST ABOUT THREE QUARTERS OF MILE BEFORE DISSIPATING ALONG BEAVER DAM ROAD (SC 84). THERE WERE SOME WOODED AREAS WHERE A COUPLE CLUSTERS OF TREES WERE SNAPPED OR UPROOTED. THERE WAS OTHER STRAIGHT-LINE WIND DAMAGE STRETCHING SOUTHWEST TO HIGHWAY 35. THE STORM WAS ABOUT 50 YARDS AT THE WIDEST AND THE STRONGEST WINDS WERE ABOUT 74 MPH.

Tornado Report Description: THE TORNADO BEGAN JUST OFF OF HIGHWAY 540 WEST OF RALEIGH SNAPPING A FEW TREES. THE TORNADO CONTINUED ACROSS COURT HOUSE SQUARE...WHERE IT TOOK PART OF A METAL ROOF OFF OF AN OUTBUILDING. THE TORNADO ENDED NEAR STATE HIGHWAY 35 WHERE IT SNAPPED SOME LIMBS OFF OF A TREE.

Tornado Report Description: A chicken house, a hay barn, and a trailer were damaged near the intersection of Smith County Road 504 and Smith County Road 504-C. Maximum sustained winds were 95 mph.

Tornado Report Description: This tornado started by downing some trees just southeast of Raleigh, near and across Highway 18. As the tornado moved northeast along Bailey Road and crossed County Road 130, it intensified and produced high end EF-1 damage, snapping and uprooting trees, taking shingles off roofs, and blowing skirting out from mobile homes. The tornado continued to strengthen as it moved northeast, and along County Roads 136, 107, and 105, it produced damage indicative of high end EF-2. A few mobile homes were destroyed and several homes and buildings sustained significant roof damage, along with extensive tree damage. Along County Road 105, a mobile home was picked up by the tornado, bounced along the ground a couple of times, and was then thrown into woods across the road, with debris scattered for at least a mile downstream, including the frame of the mobile home. The occupant of the mobile home was the first fatality of this tornado. The tornado continued northeast, and reached its most intense and widest point in the Smith County portion of the tornado just before crossing the county line at County Road 103. Here, in the central core of the tornado there was an area of completely mowed down pine trees in which everyone was snapped and many were denuded, and two frame homes had the roofs and exterior walls completely destroyed with extensive damage to interior walls. In addition, many power poles were snapped, a mobile home was annihilated, and a large shop building was completely destroyed. The damage here was rated high end EF-3 with maximum estimated winds of 160 mph.||The tornado remained intense as it crossed into Jasper County and moved across County Road 13, causing very impressive tree damage with nearly every pine tree snapped and extensive evidence of denuding and debarking. Power poles were also snapped. The tornado produced similar type damage as it crossed County Road 16. The tornado then produced its first area of EF-4 damage just northwest of Louin along County Road 164. Here, the tornado struck an area with several mobile homes and one frame home. The frame home was completely destroyed, with most interior walls down and some of the foundation pushed clean. Several mobile homes in the area, including two double wides which the residents said were well strapped down, were completely destroyed with the debris and frames blown great distances. In fact, all of the debris was so dispersed and mixed that it was impossible for the surveyors to reconstruct the positions of the mobile homes and house without explanations from the residents. Two people were killed in a mobile home at this spot; however, several other people abandoned their mobile homes after hearing warnings to shelter in a nearby brick home, and were certainly saved from serious injury or death. ||After crossing Highway 15, the tornado weakened and narrowed somewhat. As it crossed County Road 23, it produced EF-2 damage, destroying two mobile homes and causing extensive tree and powerline damage. The tornado then produced a relatively narrow path of EF-1 tree and powerline damage for several miles, until reintensifying near Rose Hill. As the tornado crossed Highway 18 southeast of Rose Hill, it removed most of the roof of a frame home and caused heavy damage to the exterior walls, took a large section of roof off another frame home, completely destroyed a large tied down mobile home, and caused extensive tree damage. This damage was rated at the low end of EF-3. After causing this damage, the tornado weakened again, causing mainly EF-1 type tree damage until it reached the Clarke County line, with the last point inside the county line on County Road 22 rated as EF-0, with just a few trees and limbs down. ||The tornado then continued into Clarke County and reintensified somewhat, causing tree and powerline damage as it crossed Interstate 59 and US Highway 11. The tornado then became much more intense as it moved along the south side of the town of Enterprise. A number of homes and mobile homes were heavily damaged or destroyed along County Road 320 and State Highway 513. This damage was rated as high EF-2 to low end EF-3. As the tornado passed along a two mile stretch of State Highway 519 east of Enterprise, it heavily damaged several frame homes and caused extensive tree damage. One spot here was the other area of EF-4 damage produced by this tornado. A new construction frame home was completely leveled with the debris swept off the foundation. Residents in the area reported that the house was nearly completed. Based on these reports and the extent of other nearby, primarily tree, damage, this damage is being rated EF-4 with maximum winds of 175 mph. Other damage in this general area was rated as high end EF-2 or low end EF-3. ||The tornado weakened slightly again as it crossed US Highway 45 and State Highway 145, and then caused high end EF-2 and low end EF-3 damage at County Roads 456 and 457. Here, several strapped down double wide mobile homes were destroyed with debris strewn over long distances. Nearby residents reported that one of the mobile homes was occupied by 11 persons at the time of the tornado, and that this was the location where 4 people were killed. Another resident of a nearby mobile home was critically injured. From here, the tornado passed east northeast, just north of the Energy and Snell communities, causing EF-2 damage to a number of frame homes along with extensive tree and powerline damage. The tornado crossed Highway 514 northeast of Snell, still causing extensive tree damage and significant roof damage to several large frame homes, before moving across the state line into Choctaw County, Alabama. The tornado continued into Alabama for 59 miles, bringing the total path length to 124 miles.

Tornado Report Description: This tornado started west southwest of Raleigh along county road 516 near Highway 540. The tornado tracked northeast downing numerous trees and power lines along the path. At its widest point the tornado produced substantial damage to a brick home...removing half of the roof and severely damaging the remaining half. The walls of the home fell in the section of the house where the roof was removed. Several other houses received minor to moderate roof damage. Numerous sheds and small barns were destroyed or damaged. Tin roofing and siding was removed from a storage shed...some of which became projectiles that were forced through the walls of a wood frame house. A mobile home was blown off its foundation. Widespread tree damage also occurred. Maximum winds were around 125 mph.

Tornado Report Description: This EF1 tornado had a path length of 10 miles and a width of 50 yards. Many small trees were snapped with a couple large hardwood trees uprooted. Maximum winds were around 95 mph.

Tornado Report Description: This weak tornado touched down near the intersection of Highway 35 and County Road 504. One home had some roofing blown off, power poles were blown down and a few trees were snapped. The tornado tracked along the north side of Highway 504 downing many trees. When it crossed Highway 504 it uprooted and snapped a number of large pine trees, snapped two power poles and damaged a porch. The tornado then traced through forested land downing dozens of trees. It dissipated just before crossing Dixon Road where it caused minor roof damage to a chicken house.

Tornado Report Description: This weak tornado briefly touched down just west of Raleigh and caused damage to one home and a barn just south of Highway 18. The home had several windows blown out and the barn was destroyed. In addition, a few trees were blown down and many large limbs were broken. Debris from the barn and trees were scattered about the property.

Tornado Report Description: This weak tornado briefly touched down just west of Raleigh and and moved east-northeast for about a mile. A man watched the tornado damage his barn and knock down a few trees as it moved to the east-northeast.

Tornado Report Description: This tornado touched down just south of Raleigh on State Highway 35 and tracked northeast to the Jasper Smith county line, 7 miles northeast of Sylvarena, where it then moved into Jasper county. Along its path it uprooted and destroyed a few thousand trees. Thirteen chicken houses were destroyed and six others were damaged. Three mobile homes and one residential home were destroyed along with five other homes sustaining major damage. Two people were injured when a mobile home was blown off its foundation and destroyed 10 miles northeast of Raleigh. At 210 AM the strong tornado moved into northwest Jasper county. The total path length of this tornado was 38 miles across Smith, Jasper and Newton counties.

Tornado Report Description: A National Weather Service Survey discovered at least 20 trees down in northern Smith County about 3 miles northeast of Raleigh. Some of the trees destroyed were quite large, including two which were located on the edge of a cemetery near a small church. Other structures at the cemetery were east of the damage path and were undamaged.
