Tornado Report Description: *** 1 FATAL... 4 INJ *** The tornado touched down near Yount Rd in Claremont... breaking large tree branches... then moving northeast and uprooting trees from Love Rd to Boggs Rd. It appeared to intensify by the time it reached Hewitt Rd near McLin Creek... before moving into the Fox Hollow neighborhood. There... on Cindi Ln... several trees were uprooted or snapped. In a matter of seconds the tornado moved north and damaged several manufactured homes along Evening Dr. One of these homes... which was tied down but only in shallow holes... rolled over and was partially torn apart. The one fatality of this event occurred in this home. The walls of another manufactured home in Fox Hollow were torn away from the floor and undercarriage... and two more suffered major roof or wall damage. One to two minutes after exiting that neighborhood toward the northeast... tree trunks were snapped on Old Catawba Rd... and then along Interstate 40 between the Catawba River and Buffalo Shoals Creek. Tornado Report Description: An EF-1 tornado with peak winds of 110mph tracked across portions of Catawba... Iredell and Rowan Counties on the afternoon of August 7th. The tornado touched down between Conover and Claremont on Kelly Blvd where large tree branches were snapped. The tornado moved southeast and continued to snap large tree limbs as it neared the Murrays Hill community. The tornado began to strengthen and reached EF-1 intensity as it crossed NC Highway 10 where trees were uprooted with additional trees snapped/uprooted along Murrays Mill Rd and Sherrills Ford Rd with winds reaching 100-110mph. The tornado maintained EF-1 intensity as it passed just north of Sherrills Ford downing trees along Long Island Rd... Hopewell Church Rd and Mollys Backbone Rd. The tornado crossed Lake Norman and moved into Iredell County downing many trees along Northview Harbor Dr... Penicillin Pt and Fern Hill Rd. As the tornado neared Mooresville it began to lose intensity and weakened to an EF-0 with 70-85mph winds snapping nu

Tornado Report Description: This tornado touched down in extreme southeast Catawba, on a Lake Norman peninsula. Damage was first observed in the area around Kiser Island Rd and Barbor Circle. Numerous trees and large limbs were downed along Harbor Circle, with the roofs of several homes damaged by falling debris. Some minor roof damage was observed due to wind. A boat docked near Harbor Circle was blown across the lake, washing up on shore on the Iredell County side of the lake. The tornado continued east northeast over Lake Norman, crossing into Iredell County just west of the Hager Creek access area.

Tornado Report Description: The tornado touched down initially in an industrial park near Penny Rd, where two large buildings sustained significant roof damage. Part of the exterior wall of one of the buildings collapsed. The tornado moved northeast, causing damage to shingles and siding at several homes on St Vincent Dr. Two outbuildings were thrown 30 to 40 feet and numerous trees were snapped off or uprooted in this area as well. The tornado continued to cause severe damage to trees and generally minor structural damage to homes and a church as it moved northeast toward Catawba St. The damage path continued in a east northeast direction from there, roughly paralleling highway 70. Major roof damage occurred to a food processing plant on highway 70 and several outbuildings were destroyed. Numerous headstones were blown down in a cemetery adjacent to the plant. Numerous trailers were then overturned and part of a building destroyed at a truck depot near Liberty Hill Church Rd. The tornado continued east northeast for about another half mile before lifting.
