Hail Report Description: A severe thunderstorm developed over the Fern Valley area and significantly interfered with an ongoing search and rescue operation involving two injured climbers at Suicide Rock. Several eyewitness accounts from climbers on Suicide and Tahquitz Rocks, as well as from people involved in the ongoing SAR mission, describe hailstones ranging in size from marbles to walnuts. A rescue helicopter was forced to abort a rescue attempt of the climbers and make an emergency landing after the thunderstorm moved into the area. One of the injured climbers suffered additional contusions from the hail while another person received cuts. Please note that the severe thunderstorm did not move into the area until nearly two hours after the initial (non-weather related) rock climbing accident.

Wind Report Description: A line of thunderstorms moved across the Great Salt Lake with several severe wind gusts. The strongest recorded gust was 79 mph at the Lakeside mesonet site. In addition, several sites along the northern Wasatch Front reported damage from these winds, including large tree branches down in Tremonton and large trees down in Brigham City. The strongest wind gust on the east side of the lake was a 77 mph gust recorded at West Warren.

Tornado Report Description: A weak EF-1 tornado touched down to the northeast of Freemont in|northern Wayne County. The tornado tracked north after touching down in the middle of a corn field just southeast of the intersection of Aycock Church Road and Old Black Creek Road. At 188 Aycock Church Road the tornado with winds estimated around 75 mph destroyed a barn and damaged a pick up truck. Minor roof and siding damage was also noticeable to the house at this same location. Debris from the barn and house were scattered about 100 yards. The tornado crossed the Aycock Church|Road moving across a field of soy beans and damaging several trees. After striking the tree line the tornado then caused a roof to collapse on a second barn and damaged two fields of tobacco. The tornado then lifted off the ground before touching down again briefly near|Beaver Dam road causing minor damage. Several mobile homes along Beaver Dam Road had shingles removed and several trees were blown down. A few small out buildings were also damaged.

Tornado Report Description: A weak tornado initially touched down along Jesse Bridges Road between Smith Hudson Road and Rufus Brewer Road. Most of the damage occurred along Jesse Bridges Road with very large trees blown down in different directions. There was considerable damage to an outbuilding and in one case a window screen was torn from a porch and placed on a weathervane on the roof of a home. Some homes had experinced peeled aluminum|siding. Several downed trees were noted near the intersection of Rufus|Brewer and Silk Hope Liberty Roads and on Will Brown Road.

Tornado Report Description: A damage survey conducted by the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia and the Wilkes County Emergency Management Director confirmed that an EF0 tornado touched down in northeast Wilkes county about three miles northwest of Tignall near the intersection of Bunch Road and Mallorysville Road. The tornado path length was determined to be around five miles with the tornado lifting at a point approximately three miles northeast of Norman, or near Henry Hill Road. A swath of trees were downed all along the entire track of the tornado. An anchored mobile home along Georgia Highway 17 at Boyd Road was blown six feet of its foundation. Another home along Georgia Highway 17 lost several shingles from its roof.

Tornado Report Description: A survey conducted by the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Peachtree City and the Jackson County Emergency Management Agency confirmed that an EF1 tornado touched down and caused considerable damage in northeast Jackson county. The tornado initially touched down very briefly about three miles east-northeast of Arcade near the Brockton Loop before lifting. Only minor damage to tree limbs was noted in this area. The tornado then touched down again within the city of Commerce and tracked approximately 1.25 miles through the city before lifting before reaching the Banks county line. Approximately 40 trees were uprooted or blown over by the tornado, which caused extensive damage to homes in the area. A total of three mobile homes were destroyed, one by wind, and two others from downed trees, while up to 15 site-built homes sustained minor roof damage. Three residents of the destroyed mobile homes were treated for injuries. The maximum path width of the tornado, within the city of Commerce, was determined to be 100 yards. Maximum wind within the tornado was estimated to be 100 mph.

Tornado Report Description: A damage survey conducted by the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Peachtree City and the Hall County Emergency Management Agency confirmed that yet a third tornado associated with the remnants of tropical storm Fay touched down in Hall county. This brief tornado touched down just southwest of Gillsville in the extreme northeast part of Hall county and lifted just before reaching the Banks county line. The majority of the damage along this 3/4 mile-long path was done near the city of Gillsville. At least 20 trees were uprooted or blown over along the path of tornado. In addition, the roof was blown off one home at the intersection of Timber Ridge and Hewell Road. Three other homes sustained minor to moderate damage from the wind and downed trees. The maximum path width was determined to be 100 yards. Maximum wind within the tornado was estimated to be 90 mph.

As it crossed Davis and Richey Roads, about 5 miles east of Pelzer, it destroyed a garage, removed shingles from roofs and uprooted large trees. The tornado continued north into Moonville where it blew down more trees. It then lifted about nine miles south of Greenville.
