Hail Report Description: Numerous reports of large hail, the size of quarters and larger, were received from the public and the broadcast media across the northern half of Hall county. Nickel-sized hail was reported by the public in Murrayville in northwest Hall county, ping-pong ball-sized hail west of Gainesville on the east side of Lake Lanier, with at least a half-a-dozen reports of ping-pong to golf ball-sized hail around the Gainesville area. The Times of Gainesville reported that Hardy Chevrolet had up to 500 vehicles suffering some form of damage from hail. At Moss Robertson Cadillac/Mazda/Isuzu, more than 100 vehicles were damaged from hail. Milton Martin Honda had 63 vehicles damaged from hail.

Hail Report Description: The public and the Gainesville Times Newspaper both provided numerous reports of hail ranging in size from dimes to golfballs across the northern part of the county from Murrayville, to Gainesville, to Clermont, to Lula. Golfball size hail was particularly widespread across the northern part of Gainesville where two reports indicated that hail was piled up 2 1/2 feet deep on roads and in yards. One report of such hail accumulations was on Jim Hood Road north of Gainesville and another on U.S. Highway 129, also north of Gainesville.

Wind Report Description: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that a number of trees and power lines were down throughout Hall county. The Hall County Emergency Management Director reported damage to a traffic signal and billboard in the far southern part of the county near the Gwinnett county line, just east of Rest Haven. In addition, there was damage at the Road Atlanta Lanier Speedway in the far southeast portion of the county. Several canopies were blown over and damaged some of the race cars being used during a Saturday evening racing event. A flag in the infield was ripped from the top of the pole. Several trees and large tree limbs were also down in the woods surrounding the track and strewn about the grounds of the facility.

Tornado Report Description: The White County Emergency Management Director reported that an F0 tornado touched down in the southwest corner of White county near the Hall county line at the Wauka Valley Farms area, then skipped along the ground on a path to the north-northwest for approximately five miles, terminating in the Town Creek Road area of western White county. The tornado path width was determined to be approximately 1/8 to 1/4 mile wide. Considerable damage was reported at the Wauka Valley Farms facility. Hundreds of trees were twisted off, blown over, or uprooted. Two barns were destroyed from downed trees and wind damage. The roof of one barn was found a considerable distance downstream. In addition, wooden two-by-fours were discovered nearly a mile away from the farm. One home sustained room damage and a number of trees and power lines were also down along Town Creek road, approximately five miles west of Cleveland at the end of the damage path area, but the majority of the damage was done in the Wauka Valley Farms area. Overall, in excess of 200 trees were down in the southwest part of the county. The tornado formed on the tail end of a feeder band associated with the remnants of Hurricane Dennis.

Tornado Report Description: An off duty Peachtree City, Georgia National Weather Service employee, along with a survey done by another employee of the National Weather Service Office in Peachtree City, Georgia, and numerous articles and pictures from the Newnan Times Herald, as well as eyewitness accounts from the public, indicated that an F0 tornado touched down very briefly in extreme southwest Coweta county near Powers Crossroads. This was a continuation of the tornado that touched down in Heard county near Whispering Pines. Damage was limited to just a couple of downed trees in the area. National Weather Service doppler radar clearly indicated a tornadic signature in the area. Damage attributable to the tornado was generally limited to several downed trees.

At least half a dozen homes were severely damaged by falling trees. There was also substantial damage reported to other trees and power lines in the same general area.
