The storms led to the issuance of a Significant Weather Advisory for Yuma beginning at 1700MST and continuing until 1800MST.

Wind Report Description: Thunderstorms developed across southwest Arizona during the afternoon hours on August 21st, and some of them affected the community of Yuma. The stronger storms produced gusty and damaging outflow winds estimated to be at least 60 mph at times. According to an amateur radio operator, multiple power lines were downed in town between 1645MST and 1700MST. As reported by the Yuma Fire Department, there were downed power lines at the intersection of Arizona Avenue and 26th Street. The amateur radio operator also indicated that street lights were off across the city of Yuma, due to the downed power lines.

Wind Report Description: Thunderstorms developed across far southwest Arizona during the afternoon hours on August 22nd and they affected the community of Yuma. The storms produced strong, gusty and damaging winds estimated to be in excess of 60 mph. A trained weather spotter 2 miles northwest of Yuma reported that power lines were blown down near Interstate 8, approximately at the intersection of Araby Street. In addition, a trailer truck was blown over at Araby Street and East 24th Street. Although a Severe Thunderstorm Warning was not in effect, there was a Significant Weather Advisory issued at 1700MST for Yuma which ran until 1800MST.

Wind Report Description: A cluster of slow moving and very intense thunderstorms developed in the Yuma area during the afternoon hours on September 9th. The storms generated strong and gusty microburst winds. At 532 pm, the official ASOS weather station at the Yuma airport measured a gust to 65 mph, or 56 knots. Earlier, at 524 pm, the Yuma ASOS measured a gust of 58 mph. Finally, at 530 pm a trained weather spotter 2 miles northwest of Yuma estimated a peak wind gust to 65 mph. The trained spotter did not report damage associated with the strong wind gust.

The official ASOS weather station in Yuma measured a peak wind gust of 50 knots at 1030 pm. The gusty winds also generated areas of dense blowing sand and dust; the Yuma observation reported visibility down to one quarter of a mile in blowing dust.

Wind Report Description: Zero visibility reported in rain along with gusty winds estimated at up to 80 mph. Damage was reported to homes and businesses with numerous trees uprooted. A huge pine tree fell on a house at the corner of 8th Avenue and 10th Street. Entire carports were torn from their foundations. A roof on a home in the 1100 block of Appaloose Lane was completely torn off of its rafters. The ceramic tiles on the top of the entrance to El Charro Cafe, 601 West 8th Street, were severely damaged. The roof of a self-serve car wash collapsed. There were several reports of car windshields broken due to flying debris. At the old Foxworth Galbraith hardward store, entire structures collapsed and lay mangled on the ground where the outdoor lumber sdection had been.
